Well, I have been out of commission for a while. Pam tried to keep everyone updated on the surgery and hospital stay. She was at the hospital early every morning helping me, watching me sleep, quizzing the doctors and entertaining visitors. Then she would come home update the blog, email and snail mail. By the end of last week she was exhausted. Me too but for a whole different reason. We have taken a few days to lay low and just try to get some energy back.
I'm told by everyone medical that the surgery went extremely well and that my recovery was borderline miraculous. Honestly, it doesn't feel so miraculous. I believe them and I'm thankful because if this is almost miraculous what must normal be like... My lower half is swollen, they told me that would happen, and when I first get up to walk I look like Tim Conway's old man walking. It is nearly impossible to find a comfortable position to sleep in and I'm still taking pain medication to get through the night. I'm not complaining just reporting. I expected these things. What I didn't expect was them to take my gall bladder at the same time and no one can seem to tell me what exactly that means health-wise in the long run.
God is good all the time!!
