I just got home from our medical field day...first the procedure at Methodist and then dropping Jim at the cancer center for chemo. The surgery went well, there was really nothing wrong with the port...the oncology folks just didn't use a big enough needle. Jim is a big guy, and the port is deeply attached to muscle for stability thus the needle that is used on the skinny 98 pound patient will not work on him. He is doing okay but, I would ask for prayer as the pain sets in from the "look see" and extra stabilizing stitches.
I couldn't walk away from this without seeing the spiritual lesson
How many times do we insist that God is not speaking to us- we even get others to confirm it.
Do you hear Him?
"Nope I don't hear Him either",
Can you make Him work?
"No, He doesn't work for me"
And we conclude that God is "turned" and non-functioning, like Jim's port, Only to discover through painful events that God is working just fine. We however are using too small a needle to access Him. So avoid the surgery, go deeper with a bigger needle.

Matt 7:7-8
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened. AMP
