Pam threw me under the bus and it's true that there was a 'mouse' in the shower. Every time I take a shower there are new critters trying to go down the drain. Which is to say that after every shower I have less hair. The top only took two showers to go astray. The sides seem to be taking a little longer. But I don't think it's going to stop at the top of my head. I got hair fallin' out of places that I didn't know I had hair in. (Diagram that sentence Mrs. Malone....)
The liver surgeon was a very serious doctor and he threw some fairly serious numbers at us. The one that keeps rattling around in my head is "we lose 1 patient in every 25" in this type of operation. Thank God the surgeon isn't in charge of the outcome. Other doctors have said that he is one of the best liver surgeons in the state but his sense of humor isn't quite that good. When I said, "so this isn't going to be outpatient surgery", he didn't even grin. When I said, "as long as you got me open how about lyposucking out about 100 pounds", nothin'. Pam & I have, or at least try to have, an eternal perspective which goes a long way towards a sense of humor in these situations. Yes I want to live a very long life but this aint all there is and aint no doctor in charge of how many days I have left. That being said, this is a very invasive operation and I would appreciate all of your prayers for the surgery and for the recovery. Surgery is March 16th at 8:00 a.m. The surgeon wants to wait at least 3 weeks from my last chemo and wants to give my white count a chance to improve.
A break from chemo is a very good thing! Stop by (if you are well) or give me a call, I'm just sitting around waiting for my white count to improve.
God is good all the time!!

JD & Pam,
Have been following your blog for a few weeks now. You're right about dr's senses of humor. My husband was suddenly thrown in the hospital (with what turned out to be a rare form of leukemia) and told he had 7 days to live. On Day 6, they hadn't figured out what he had yet, and he asked, "Is that 7 WORKING days, or.....? They didn't laugh either! :) That was NINE years ago. The Great Physician had other ideas for my husband, too!! :)
Please know that you are both in our prayers. We pray for peace and healing for you both. God IS good all the time!!
The Greentown folks are sure wishin we could get down there to see you before your surgery....but we are still sick. and sick of being sick....
but while we are here and you are there; we are still praying for you.
Please make sure that someone is taking pictures of this new hair-do for us...maybe Kristin won't be afraid of you anymore! ;-)
Love and virtual hugs....
Mike and Wendy
