I am home early tonight. Jim is resting well and I thought I would try and get some sleep too. Doctors say things are looking pretty good. One fly in the ointment is his kidneys- they are not working very well and so he will spend a second night in ICU. The chief resident ( I don't remember his name) explained that kidney failure is common after liver surgery and usually corrects itself with extra IVs, meds and time. His pain level is controlled at about 3 on a 10 scale. He has been sitting up, drinking water and eating jello. His blood pressure has been on the low side and he has been joking with the nurses when he is awake. He is hoping for a regular room tomorrow. The bad thing about ICU is that they don't let you sleep more than an hour at a time and the machines are noisy. Jim says he is ready for a good long nap!

We are praying and thinking of you guys constantly. We are with you in spirit, even if not in person.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Ellis family,
You are all in our prayers everyday. Praise God, the surgical team, and all that prayed for you during surgery and continues to do so through recovery! We look forward to Jim's smiling face and bad jokes! :)
Sincerely,
The Trudeaus
