Blogging is an interesting animal. Sometimes it's a release, sometimes it's rewarding (especially when folks leave comments) and sometimes blogging is just a pain. So I haven't blogged in a while because I was just kind of relaxing in being 'normal'. Well so much for normal.
One of the follow-ups to cancer is to have blood tests every three months. The medical types are looking for your CEA number. Carcinoembryonic Antigen is a marker used in GI cancers, especially colon cancer, to track the possibility of the tumor returning. The normal CEA range is from .5 - 2.5. In September my CEA was at .7 and we were very encouraged. In early December my CEA was at 4.5 and we were concerned. The doctor wanted me to redo the blood test to make sure it wasn't a false reading since I had the flu at the time of testing. So last Friday I went in for the blood test. We played phone tag until Wednesday (December 31st) and I was told that my CEA number was 6.1. A fairly unnerving report.
We don't know exactly what it means, we have a good idea, but we don't know exactly.
We go to see a new Oncologist next Friday.
If you are still reading this blog would you please pray. I'm not sure how to ask you to pray, just pray.
God is still good all the time!!
