Bad day, good news

Yesterday was not a good clinic day. New drugs were added and I was there for seven hours. But to their credit they are very aggressive in dealing with side effects. The NP came in took one look at me and said, "we're going to give you something for that rash. Of course my reply was, 'what rash'. Anyway, the last drug they gave me was to help with the diarrhea for up to four weeks. But it didn't mix well and I had terrible nausea last night. It was the 'carry a bucket where ever you go' level of nausea. Doctor Dugan's assistant called and gave me several steps to take in dealing with the nausea and today it is much better.

But the real reason she called was to give me some news. If you will recall, CEA levels in the blood are a marker for my kind of cancer. They had gone up exponentially over December and January. They are back down, way down and almost in a normal range. We were all surprised by them being this low this soon. So it may change the time table for the PET/CT scan and surgery.

God is good all the time!

The Plan of the Master Weaver

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me
I may not choose the colours –
He knows what they should be
For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side
While I can see it only
From this, the underside.

Sometimes He weaveth sorrow,
Which seemeth strange to me;
But I will trust His judgement,
And work on faithfully;
'Tis He who fills the shuttle,
And He knows what is best,
So I shall weave in earnest,
Leaving to Him the rest.

Not 'til the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why;
The dark threads are as needed,
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
